These simple sculptures are lyrical and playful models of the cosmos. Simultaneously beautiful and strange, here literal basic building blocks (wooden blocks, toothpicks, and pipecleaners) form intriguing sculptures that beckon close inspection. Their almost mechanical order blooms into organic form and vice versa. They are painted with pronounced texture in a multitude of subtly shifting shades; powdered mica is used to create shimmering finishes. Often, this makes the sculptures appear somehow strangely lit.
