paintings and drawings rearranging in flux
Paintings and drawings by Shea Hembrey that are in the process of reordering and rearranging themselves.
Imagining that the universe wants to be truly seen, I daydreamed that I came back to the studio to find framed paintings that I left behind were morphing and rearranging because the universe was directly intervening to reveal its true structure. So, I created these “universal self portraits” where completed paintings and drawings alter and reorder. Condensation arrangements form inside the framed glass. The transforming, re-liquefying pigments expand into greater territory—seemingly on their way to a more complete state. These pieces are presented in flux. As such, they elegantly capture the nature of existence.
