stellar photograph paintings

In these paintings, photographs of the universe (such as of the Milky Way with its sea of stars) are cut, torn, or shred and these fragments are reordered to provide a more complex, nuanced structure of the cosmos. The photo bits are put back together with transparent tape rendered in trompe—l’œil technique that further deepens the questioning of reality in this work. After all, the "photographs" are actually imagined stellar images masterfully produced in paint before they are shred for inclusion in these works. In these paintings, the order of the cosmos is rearrangeable, shifting, and tenuous...accurately reflecting our rapidly developing understanding of existence.
